PURPOSE: A structure and a method for correcting a defect in a data line of a liquid crystal display panel are provided to allow a data signal applied to a data line to be transmitted through the data line even when the data line has a defect by connecting a light shielding bar with the data line. CONSTITUTION: Both ends of a conductive light shielding bar(42) are connected to a data line(38) connected to a source electrode of a thin film transistor(32) serving as a switching element of a liquid crystal display panel. When the data line is opened, both ends of the light shielding bar are laser-welded so that a data signal applied to the data line can be transmitted through the light shielding bar.
