PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical diffusion adapter where an optical operating surface is present all over the optical emission window of a light emitting part and suitably prevents occurrence of irregularities of light intensity distribution even when the adapter is fixed to a miniaturized electronic flash device. SOLUTION: The optical diffusion adapter comprises: a front surface part provided with the optical operating surface which covers the optical emission window of the light emitting part, diffuses the emission direction of the light made incident and emits the diffused light outside and a pair of bent part extended backward from both ends of the front surface part, respectively. A projecting part provided for engagement with the light emitting part is formed in the inside surface of the bent part, and the light emitting part is fixed detachably. While a first optical operating surface is formed in an area excluding the vicinity of the base end of the bent part among the light incident plane of the front surface part, a second optical operating surface is formed in the area in the vicinity of the base end of the bent part among the light-emitting plane of the front surface part.
