PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder block of an engine, capable of suitably restraining a shape change in cylinder bores caused by the thermal expansion at engine operating time. SOLUTION: In this cylinder block, the plural cylinder bores 11 are formed adjacent in a body 10. Net-like members 21 and 22 formed of a material having a thermal expansion coefficient smaller than the body 10 are cast in a wall part of the cylinder bores 1. Density of meshes of the net-like members 21 and 22 is set high on a part, approaching the cylinder bores adjacent in the circumferential direction of the wall part of the cylinder bores 11. The density of these meshes is set high on a part close to the combustion chamber of the engine, in the cylinder axis direction of the wall part of the cylinder bores 11. The net-like members 21 and 22 are formed of plural layers in the radial direction of the cylinder bores 11, and the density of the meshes is set high on the layers close to the wall surface of the cylinder bores 11 among these respective layers.
