PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the resistance of a network protection device to an overload attack. SOLUTION: Information transmitted and received between an external network 5 and an internal network 6 is branched by a packet branching part 24 or 25 and transmitted to an external attack monitoring board 3 or an external attack monitoring board 4 and a main board 2 respectively. The monitoring boards 3 and 4 decide whether or not the received information is illegal, decide information processing contents on the basis of decision results and transmit the information processing contents to the main board 2 through an internal bus. The main board 2 relays or discards the information according to the processing contents received from the monitoring board 3 or 4.
