PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition with which a colored coated film containing an inorganic pigment can be formed on the surface of a calcium-based inorganic base material such as concrete, and which has excellent dispersibility of the pigment and exhibits time stability and further with which a coated film having high hardness, excellent antifouling property, weatherability or the like can be formed. SOLUTION: The composition is a coating composition useful for coating the calcium-based inorganic base material and contains a water soluble alkali silicate compound and pigment. The amount of the water soluble alkali silicate compound contained in the composition is 10 to 50 wt.%.
