PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balance capable of measuring a road acting on a part to which a strain gauge cannot be attached such as a spindle, and to provide a method for measuring a load using the balance. SOLUTION: There are provided a base part, a holding part which holds a specimen, an arm which connects the base part to the holding part, and a strain measuring device which measures a strain of the arm. A load acting on the specimen is measured utilizing a strain measured with the strain measuring device.
