PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll compressor provided with a movable scroll having high strength in the lower part of its lap, capable of reducing a generated centrifugal force. SOLUTION: In this scroll compressor, a movable scroll having a spiral lap comprising an involute curve is faced to and geared with a fixed scroll, and the compression is carried out by the turn of the movable scroll. In the lap 12 of the movable scroll 10, the thickness of the lap is large on the lower side 12a and small on the upper side 12b in a section between the outer final contact point and the inner final contact point to the lap of the fixed scroll in the roll starting part of the lap 12. By virtue of this structure, the generation of the centrifugal force causing the generation of stress can be reduced by reducing mass without affecting the compression capacity of the scroll, and the strength of the lower side 12a of the lap is increased, so that the deformation of the lap is reduced.
