PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heater abnormality detecting device and a heater abnormality detection method of a heater helmet for anti-fogging by which abnormalities such as damages and peeling-offs or the like of a transparent electroconductive material coated on a windshield can be surely detected. SOLUTION: An electric current value of a current to flow between a linear electrode 7 to supply electricity to the transparent electroconductive material 3 coated on the windshield 2 and an electric power supply 4 is detected by a current detecting part 15, and a comparison of large and small relationship between a heater abnormality detection judgment value Ig set beforehand and a current value I detected at the current detecting part 15 is made, and in case the current value I is less than the judgment value Ig, an abnormality detecting signal is outputted to actuate an alarm part 12. Because abnormalities are detected by utilizing changes of electric characteristics of the transparent electroconductive material 3, abnormalities of coating state of the transparent conductive material 3, which are difficult by the visual observation can be easily and surely detected.
