摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for positioning a read/write head on a disk recording medium such as a magnetic disk at high speed and high accuracy, and to provide a driving method for the same. SOLUTION: The positioning mechanism consists of a suspension part on which a magnetic head or the like is mounted, a suspension part connected with the above suspension part, a microactuator as a driving source for moving the suspension part on which the head is mounted, and a displacement transmission mechanism (for example, wire) which uses the displacement for driving the suspension on which the head is mounted. The suspension part on which the head is mounted is remotely driven from the connected suspension part through the displacement transmission mechanism. Thereby, the vibration of the suspension part due to an air flow produced by the weight reduction of the tip part of the suspension part and the acceleration associated with the weight reduction, and the rotation of a disk is suppressed, and positioning can be performed at high speed and accurately.
