PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording medium by which servo tracking is performed exactly and stable head traveling is possible even in the case of arranging a detector extremely in the neighborhood of the recording medium. SOLUTION: A magneto-optical disk 10 is provided with a magnetic recording layer 16 formed on a disk-like flat supporting body 14 for magnetically recording information and the layer 16 is magnetized previously coaxially with the center of the disk or spirally so as to array magnetized areas A and magnetized areas B of different magnetizing directions alternately in a radial direction. Thus, tracking can continuously be performed and exact servo tracking can be performed. Furthermore, it is not required to form projections and recesses at a disk-like plane substrate and stable head traveling is possible even in the case of arranging the detector extremely in the neighborhood of the recording medium.
