PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber gyro that is constituted to efficiently transmit the elongation and contraction of a piezo-element to an optical fiber. SOLUTION: This optical fiber gyro guides the light from a light source (6) to a sensing coil (2) composed of an optical fiber (8) and generates the output (S) of an optical system by modulating the light by means of a phase modulator (9) based on an angular velocity transmitted from an oscillation circuit (15) and, at the same time, by making the phase difference of the light to interfere. Then this gyro obtains its output by inputting the output (SI) of an optical system to be detected obtained by amplifying the output (S) by means of the input amplifier (11) of an electric system (10) to a lock-in amplifier (17) and, at the same time, synchronously detecting the output (SI) by means of the amplifier (17) by using the angular velocity transmitted from the oscillation circuit (15). In this gyro, the elasticity of the coating of the portion wound around the phase modulator (9) of the optical fiber (8) is made lower than that of the portion wound around the other object than the modulator (9) of the fiber (8).
