<p>PURPOSE: To provide a box-shaped member for an automobile for reducing weight without hindering a shielding characteristic by using a hollow particle dispersed composite material. CONSTITUTION: This box-shaped member for automobile is composed of a casing 2 for internally storing various parts. The casing 2 is composed of the hollow particle dispersed composite material including a hollow particle in a metallic matrix. The content of the hollow particle is 50 to 70%, and is selected from mullite, alumina, carbon or SiO2 type construction materials. Particularly, the casing 2 is applied to a battery box 1 capable of housing a battery or a junction box, and is effective in improving fuel consumption efficiency.</p> |
