PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanner capable of constituting a precise and fast output machine therewith which can handle a large-size plate material and has a small spot diameter. SOLUTION: By combining a plurality of scanning units which can be controlled independently and having a scanning unit main body and an image forming lens part exchangeable to each other, the scanner for the output machine for outputting a press plate for printing can be constituted. A unit 1210 to a unit 4 240 being the scanning unit is installed horizontally so that adjacent scanning lines can be overlapped. Sensors 422, 424 and 426 capable of detecting a scanning line are installed on the image forming surfaces of the overlapping parts of the adjacent scanning lines (overlapped printing areas).
