PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically generate an address mask signal irrespective of the kind of optical information recording medium. SOLUTION: An index signal 23 and an address synchronizing signal 28 are detected from a reproduced signal of the optical information recording medium to be measured, and by using the index signal 23 and the address synchronizing signal 28, the time for one rotation of the optical information recording medium to be measured, the interval of the address synchronizing signals and the number of sectors per one track are measured. Then, in accordance with this measurement result, the detecting time point of the initial address synchronizing signal 28 after the index signal is detected is set as the start point, and the time for generating the address mask signal from the start point thereafter is predictably set by the calculation, then the address mask signal 33 is outputted when the value of the actual time to generate the address mask signal coincides with the predictive set value of the time to generate the address mask signal.
