PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method and processing device for radioactive waste which are capable of reducing the whole of a processing equipment and improving the storage efficiency and cooling efficiency during storage of waste. SOLUTION: Hull 11 separated from radioactive waste generated in reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel is compressed with a roll 2, the compressed hull 12 is contained in a rectangular vessel with square cross section and the rectangular vessel 5 is stored in a storage equipment 6. In storage, the rectangular vessels are arranged so that gaps for cooling gas flowing between the adjacent rectangular vessels 5 are formed.
