PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrically controlled mechanical timepiece capable of easily accumulating mechanical energy in a mechanical energy source by a prescribed magnetic force supplied externally. SOLUTION: When winding the spring 20 of the electrically controlled mechanical timepiece which drives a generator 10 and controls the revolution speed of the generator 10, a prescribed magnetic energy that a charging magnetic force generator 2 generates is received with an electromagnetic coil 12 of the generator 10 and accumulated in a power accumulator 142 of a power source circuit 140. Then, the generator 10 is driven for rotation with power accumulated in the power accumulator 142 and the spring 20 is wound by the rotation driving force. In this manner, the frequency of an externally supplying magnetic force is raised, the efficiency of energy transmission to the electromagnetic coil 12 is improved, and winding of the spring 20 is facilitated.
