PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To image cracked grains of estimating objective grains in simple structure. SOLUTION: Light from a lighting system diagonally lights up the grains of each row by a diagonally formed shielding plate and a lighting source of one row corresponds to the grains in one row and consequently never lights up those in other row. The light restricted in its direction by the shielding plate diagonally transmits the inside of the grains and a transmitted picture image is photographed by an imaging device arranged in correspondence with each of elements of the rows. It becomes easier to image a part where irregular reflection occurring due to a crack exists in the case when there is cracking on the grains, and no influence is received from the light from the other rows. It is possible to adjust an angle of the light diagonally projected on the grains by adjusting the angle of the shielding plate, and it is possible to make imaging of the cracked grains in an optimum state.
