PURPOSE: A method for detecting the malfunction of an ignition system of an engine is provided to precisely detect the problem of misfire when the misfire caused by the accelerating in low-speed and high load is generated. CONSTITUTION: A method for detecting the malfunction of an ignition system of an engine comprises the steps of: receiving the opening of a throttle valve, an engine rpm and an ignition timing, and determining whether a vehicle is in accelerating state(S110); detecting the misfire according to the engine rpm from the time when the accelerating of the vehicle is started(S132); and outputting a warning signal by determining the malfunction of the ignition system according to the detecting state of the misfire.
