PURPOSE: A method for assigning a communication channel of a TDM(Time Division Multiplex) bus is provided to assign a channel necessary for communication without previously defining a time slot allocation method between a master device and a slave device by performing all controls about the time slot allocation necessary for forming the communication channel between the master device and the slave device in the master device. CONSTITUTION: A master device writes a certain time slot allocation table for assigning communication channels(CH1-CH7) with each slave device connected to it through a TDM bus(S52). The master device transmits a message including the corresponding time slot allocation table to the slave devices through a maintenance channel(CH0)(S53). Each of slave devices receives the time slot allocation table transmitted through the maintenance channel(CH0), and fetches time slot allocation information identical to its slave device number, i.e., fetches a start time slot number and time slot number information(S54). Each of slave devices re-initializes a TDM bus matching function on the basis of fetched time slot allocation information, and assigning the communication channels(CH1-CH7) with the master device for performing a normal communication between the corresponding master device and the slave devices(S55).
