A ribbon-shaped food-packing film of a synthetic material such as polyethyle ne (20) has one or both side edges incised with short cuts (18) at right angles to t he side edges, at spaced intervals along the ribbon. The cuts are preferably 1-mm de ep and are spaced at intervals of 10 to 50 mm. The ribbon is wound as a roll (10) o n a supporting core (14).
