PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for methylation of melamine. SOLUTION: In this method for melamine methylation, melamine is reacted with methylamine in the presence of an acidic catalyst by heating under pressure and at least one or more amino groups of the melamine are substituted with methylamino groups.
