PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint collating device which is easy to use and has high secrecy. SOLUTION: The fingerprint collating device collates fingerprint information read for collation with registered fingerprint information and displays fingerprint information registered in a left-side fingerprint image display area of an LCD display unit 31 only when a user presses a request (C) key 211 if those pieces of information do not mach each other and the collation can be retried. Or the fingerprint collating device compares and displays the registered fingerprint information and the fingerprint information read for collation on the LCD display unit 31 only when the fingerprint collation ends in failure.
