PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce line-like brightness unevenness by suppressing a brightness fall, which comes from a bright point falling on to a black matrix, while suppressing a contrast lowering. SOLUTION: It has a rear plate which is arranged with an electron source, a faceplate which is arranged with two or more phosphors 2a, 2b, and 2, and the like which emit light by electrons irradiated from the above electron source, and a plate-like spacer 3, which maintains interval of the above faceplate and the above rear plate uniformly. The area of the phosphors 2a and 2b near the spacer 3 is larger compared with the area of the phosphor 2 which is not near the spacer 3. The phosphors 2a and 2b, which are near the spacer 3 and have the large area, are what have the expanded area in the perpendicular direction to the continuation direction of the spacer 3.
