PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly position a head at a high speed for the purpose of storing and retrieving data. SOLUTION: A multitrack type servo recording magnetic tape subjected to formatting has a data field which is the data field including a plurality of the tracks for storing the data and is arranged between a loading start point marker and early warning marker disposed on the tape and a track identification region which is the track identification region existing before the loading start point marker and after the early warning marker in moving the tape so the advance side and holds the track identification signals recorded to identify the different tracks including a plurality of the tracks.
