PURPOSE: A drum type washing machine is provided to improve washing performance by rotating an inner tub and an outer tub in the same or opposite direction according to the kind and the volume of clothing to generate various washing patterns. CONSTITUTION: A drum type washing machine includes an outer tub for receiving water, an inner tub mounted in the outer tub, a washing tub mounted in the inner tub, and a driving unit for driving the inner tub and the washing tub to rotate. Herein, the driving unit includes a dehydration shaft(8) connected to the washing tub for rotating the inner tub, a washing shaft(7) connected to the washing tub for rotating the washing tub, a planetary gear(10) connected to an end of the washing shaft and engaged with inner wheel gear of the dehydration shaft, a sun gear(11) engaged with the planetary gear, a driving shaft(9) inserted in the center of the sun gear, a unidirectional bearing(12) fixed in the dehydration shaft for supporting the driving shaft, a pulley(13) mounted to an end of the driving shaft, and a belt(14) connected to the pulley for transmitting the power of the motor. |
