PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and machine for manufacturing a magnetic- recording medium, which can improve the magnetic characteristics such as eminent magnetisms and reagent magnetic density of a magnetic layer without increasing the surface oxide layer which causes spacing loss and further reduce the spacing loss. SOLUTION: In this manufacturing machine, a magnetic material 42 is evaporated to deposit on the surface of a running base film 2 regulating the vapor incident angle as predetermined to form a continuous magnetic layer. It is provided with a downstream gas nozzle 21 and an upstream gas nozzle 31 to supply oxygen gas from both upstream and downstream the vapor V jetted to the base film BF in its running direction.
