APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING CALLER ID

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for providing a caller ID are provided to store and manage information received from a private exchange system and offer caller ID information to a termination subscriber PC connected to a server PC. CONSTITUTION: A private exchange system(34) connects to a PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network)(33). A server PC(36) connects to the private exchange system(34), and receives and manages information. A termination subscriber device(32) connects to the private exchange system(34) or the server PC(36), and receives a caller ID from the server PC(36). The server PC(36) has a message processing unit(36b) transmitting and receiving information with a server PC interface unit(34d) of the private exchange system(34) and decoding received information, and an application server(36a) for supporting a program executed in the termination subscriber device(32) so that a callee receives the caller ID. The server PC(36) has a web server(36d) for being operated so that the callee receives the caller ID through a program for supporting the Internet in the termination subscriber device(32), and a database(36c) for connecting to the message processing unit(36b) and the application server(36a) and managing information received from the private exchange system(34). The server PC(36) has a CGI(Common Gate interface)(36e) performs an interface between the message processing unit(36b) and the web server(36d).
