PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a temperature difference between a proton beam incident window of a high temperature side and a low temperature portion of a container to reduce thermal stress, by not only bringing a high temperature portion of a target container for storing a metal liquid into a low temperature, but also elevating a temperature in a low temperature portion of the target container. SOLUTION: In this liquid metal target for a neutron generator, regulation means 2a, 2b is provided to regulate a flow of the liquid metal so as to make a flowing amount of the liquid metal in the target container 1 get larger in an incident side than in a deep side of the incident side, in a proton beam irradiation area, and the means 2a, 2b is provided to regulate the flow of the liquid metal so as to make a supply amount of the liquid metal in the target container 1 get larger in the deep side than in the incident side, in the proton beam irradiation area, and so as to make a flowing direction of the liquid metal brought into a direction opposed to an incident direction of the proton beam.
