SOLUTION: The magneto-optical recording medium successively laminated with a first transparent dielectric layer 2, a reproducing layer 3 existing in the intra-surface magnetization state at room temperature and attaining a perpendicular magnetization state with an increase in temperature, a second transparent dielectric layer 4, a recording layer 5 consisting of a perpendicularly magnetized film, an auxiliary recording layer 11 having a Curie temperature higher than the Curie temperature of the recording layer 5 and a protective layer on a substrate 1, in which the film thickness of the reproducing layer 3 is specified to 5 to 30 nm, the film treatment of the second transparent dielectric layer 4 to 6 to 40 nm and the total film thickness of the recording layer 5 and the auxiliary recording layer 11 to >=20 nm.
