PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character correctness determination method that can relatively precisely determine the reliability of a candidate character even when link probability in contact reading and wrong reading is set inappropriately and when the preceding and following first-rank recognition candidate characters are wrong. SOLUTION: Distribution of link probabilities Pb1 to PbN and Pf1 to PfN between a determination target candidate character group (the first to Nth ranks of certainty) and the preceding candidate character of the first tank certainty and/or the following candidate character of the first rank certainty is extracted as a feature of the determination target candidate character group, and the feature is compared with sample data to determine the reliability of the determination target candidate character group.
