PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device for performing recording so that a user can visually recognize a program number of content and recording time information of a reproduced part in the case that the user records the contents without video data and reproduces the recorded contents. SOLUTION: A program number is acquired from an MPEG-TS to be inputted to this recording and reproducing device and from a PAT, time information is acquired from time information held by an SIT or the recording and reproducing device and produced as contents information and as video data in an image data preparation LSI, and an MPEG2-TS is multiplexed to the inputted MPEG2- TS and recorded.
