PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a method for automating a jacquard woven fabric design, by which the woven fabric-producing data can be formed by matching the color of the sample of the jacquard woven fabric to the color of a woven fabric determined by a woven fabric designer. SOLUTION: This method for automating the jacquard woven fabric design comprises making a virtual woven fabric color sample perfectly related to the information of the woven fabric design with a computer soft ware on the preparation of the data for weaving the jacquard woven fabric, calculating the color value of the virtual woven fabric color sample from a color system color mixture, preliminarily registering the calculated value in a woven fabric design system as a base datum, measuring the color value of the color of a pattern for designing the jacquard woven fabric, matching the optimal virtual woven fabric color sample for the color of the pattern from the virtual woven fabric color samples under retrieval conditions based on the color value, and transplanting the woven fabric design information of the color sample to the weaving data to automate the weaving data preparation.
