PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opposed reciprocating compressor simplifying manufacture and installation of a suction valve assembly and preventing a discharge valve from being damaged due to separator or mutual collision during operation. SOLUTION: The opposed reciprocating compressor includes plural reciprocating motors 121, 122 installed on both sides of inside of a casing 110 and generating reciprocating motion in mutually opposite directions, a cylinder 130 installed in a space between the reciprocating motors 121, 122, plural pistons 141, 142 inserted into the cylinder 130, the suction valve assembly 150 installed in a suction passage 132 of the cylinder 130 and locked to form a moving direction of fluid flowing therein in a direction vertical to a direction of motions of the reciprocating motors 121, 122, and a discharge valve assembly 160 installed in a discharge passage 133 of the cylinder 130 and locked to form a moving direction of fluid flowing therein a direction vertical to a direction of motions of the reciprocating motors 121, 122.
