PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material comprising a silver halide emulsion having high sensitivity and further having excellent silver tone, pressure resistance and preservability, and to provide a method for manufacturing the sensitive material. SOLUTION: The silver halide emulsion has 0.1 to 0.5 mol% average silver iodide content in all of silver halide grains and 3 to 15 mol% average silver iodide content on the surface parts of the grains, includes hexagonal flat platy grains having (111) faces as principal surfaces and an average aspect ratio of 5 to 20 in such a way that they account for 70 to 100% of the total projected area of the silver halide grains and contains a compound of the formula A-(L)m -B (where A is a group capable of functioning as a selenium sensitizer; B is a group capable of functioning as a sulfur sensitizer; L is a divalent linking group; and m is 0 or 1).
