PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature control method for a thermal head in a printer in which a good printing can be realized by eliminating incomplete printing even in the case of a long time print. SOLUTION: In a printer for printing by fusing ink of an ink ribbon 3 by heating elements 5 in a thermal head 2 and transferring a character, or the like to an elastic tube 4, print operation is interrupted intermittently by a time not causing shrinkage of the tube when a printable environmental temperature of the heating elements exceeds until the temperature drops below the printable environmental temperature level.
