PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suitable device for carrying out rapid and efficient removal of a block which forms a protective layer of a protective embankment. SOLUTION: This retractable grip device suitable for taking out to recover a submerged concrete block which forms a part of a protective structure at a harbor and a pier is provided with a support base member 1, a guide base member 3, three linear arm elements 4, three hook claw elements 5, a pair of cables 23, 24, and a cable 25. The grip device corresponds to a crane of mechanical structure or a similar driving means for supporting the grip device to carry out operation and is capable of carrying out grip motion among the hook claw elements 5.
