PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized ammonia gas sensor that does not require frequent maintenance, such as the exchange, replenishment, etc., of an electrolytic solution and has good sensitivity in a low-concentration region. SOLUTION: This ammonia gas sensor 1 has a detecting element constituted of an ammonia sensitive material 7 composed mainly of a conductive polymer (ammonia-activated polymer) having ammonia detectivity. The ammonia- activated polymer constituting the ammonia sensitive material 7 is composed mainly of a polymer (a typical example of this polymer is polyaniline sulfonate) having a main chain and a side chain coupled with the main chain and having a sulfonic group.
