PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably seal the inside and the outside of an electrolytic tank, by sealing a boundary between an electrode conjugate film 3 and the face in an anodic feeding body 7 side of a double electrode plate 9. SOLUTION: The water electrolysis tank of a solid polymer type is mainly comprised of a main anode 1 and a main cathode 2 arranged at both ends of the tank, several unit cells arranged in series between these main electrodes, and a pair of tightening flange 13 for tightening a combination of the main anode 1-the several unit cells 16-the main cathode 2, from both sides. An O- shaped ring 20 for sealing the inside and the outside of the electrolytic tank is interposed between the electrode conjugate film 3 and the face in the cathodic feeding body 8 side of the double plate 9, both of which are the composing members of the tank, on the outer edge of each cell 16. An auxiliary O-shaped ring 24 is interposed between the electrode conjugate film 3 and the face in the anodic feeding body 7 side of the double electrode plate 9, in a tank inner side or a tank outer side of the O-shaped ring 20 along it.
