PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll controller which scrolls the character, etc., of a display screen at a high speed. SOLUTION: The data of a document region 32 corresponding to the current screen of a document region 30 are developed in a VRAM 10 as bit image data, and its monochrome data are stored into a current screen buffer 42. A scroll buffer 40 has the monochrome image data of several screens, and realizes a high-speed scroll by transmitting the monochrome image data of the scroll buffer 40 to one plane in the VRAM 10 when the scroll is requested. In a specific time after the scroll, the data of the document region 30 of a scroll place are developed in color bit image data, and transmitted to the VRAM 10. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
