PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make reducible the number of wires of key input wirings, as compared with a conventional system, in which the key input wiring is arranged in a matrix, and to make applicable the above to the key input part of portable electronic equipment or the like. SOLUTION: The device is equipped with a switch array 11, in which a plurality of switches, SWj are arranged on a prescribed board, an key input control circuit 12 controlling input-output of each switch SWj of the switch array 11, and a prescribed number of wires Ln connecting between the switch array 11 and the key input control circuit 12. The switch array has a first format of a switching circuit I, which is a combination of one wire and the remaining wires of the wiring connected to the switch SWj and a second format of a switching circuit II which is a combination of arbitrary two wires selected so as not to be duplicated from the remaining wires in the wiring connected to the switch.
