PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the contact of a tape with the corner edge of a head case irrespective of a tape type, to eliminate the necessity of a positioning post pin for regulating a tape's approach angle to a head, and to prevent magnetic erasure failures by preventing the floating of the tape from a head core in a magnetic erasure head unit and a magnetic tape device. SOLUTION: The front face of a head case 3 on tape approach side is retreated backward by a curvature roughly similar to that of a head core tape sliding surface and, even when the tape is supplied not through a positioning post pin for regulating a tape approach angle to the head but through a tension adjustment pin, even during the maximum movement of a tape tension adjustment pin, the contacting of the front edge part 3d of the head case 3 on the tape approach side to the tape T is prevented.
