PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a barrier film which exhibits outstanding gas barrier properties to an oxygen gas, a water vapor and the like and further, shows high transparency, pliability and the like and a laminate using the barrier film. SOLUTION: The barrier film comprises a vapor-deposited thin film of an inorganic oxide by a chemical vapor-phase growth process, formed on one side of a base film and a coating film of a resin composition using a vehicle composed mainly of a modified polyvinyl alcohol resin with a silicon atom in the structure, formed on the vapor-deposited thin film of the inorganic oxide.
