PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user-friendly electric vacuum cleaner, which can continue cleaning while preventing an electric blower from malfunctioning. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner 1 comprises an electric blower 9, a controller 28 and a temperature detecting means 29. In the controller 28, a first temperature that is lower than the allowable limit temperature of the vacuum cleaner body and a second temperature that is higher than the first temperature and lower than the allowable limit temperature are set in advance. The controller 28 temporarily stops the operation of the electric blower 9 when the detected result of the temperature detecting means is equal to or higher than the first temperature and less than the second temperature, while stops the same when it is equal to or higher than the second temperature. The vacuum cleaner further comprises a temporary stoppage canceling means 31 for driving again the electric blower 9 during the temporary stoppage. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
