PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cartridge holding mechanism for a disk drive which is capable of facilitating the attachment/detachment of a single optical disk and a cartridge. SOLUTION: The disk drive is provided with a disk drive main body 140, a tray 20 which is disposed in the disk drive main body 140 to be freely loaded in/ejected out and on which a cartridge containing an optical disk is placed, a cartridge holder 27 detachably engaged with an engaged portion formed in the cartridge to regulate the movement of the cartridge in loading or ejection directions with respect to the tray 20, and a loading motor 61 for driving the carrying-in or out of the tray 20 in the disk drive main body 140.
