FIELD: space research, applicable in national systems of geophysical observations for prediction of earthquakes. SUBSTANCE: images of the underlying surface are obtained in the form of a digital brightness signal matrix from space coordinates. Contours on the image are singled out by the methods of spatial differentiation. The function of the fractal dimensionality of the image signal inside the singled out contour is computed. The survey is made in the violet-blue section of the sun light reflected from the earth surface. The gradient field of the directions of lineaments is computed inside the singled out contours. Belonging of the singled out anomaly to the space of the seismic center is judged by the geometry of the picture, pattern of the picture of the azimuths of directions of the lineaments, fractal dimensionality of the image inside the contour.
