PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation control system of an ash melting furnace based on the actual state of a slag thermometer. SOLUTION: Automatic operation by data of the slag thermometer (Step 1) is based, but it is determined whether or not there is a normal correspondence between the data of the slag thermometer and data of another indirect parameter measuring means (Step 2), if YES, the automatic operation is continued, while if NO, an alarm is issued (Step 3). Further, it is determined whether the slag thermometer is operating normally or not (Step 4), if YES, the indirect parameter measuring means is repaired and restored (Step 5), from which the automatic operation by the data of the slag thermometer is continued, if NO, that is, if the slag thermometer is not normal, the automatic operation by the slag thermometer is stopped (Step 6) and the operation is switched to manual control (Step 7).
