PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical split detecting device and a vertical split detecting system which can reduce occurrence of erroneous detection of vertical split by enhancing intensity of induction currents generated in a loop coil by the induction currents.SOLUTION: The vertical split detecting device is a vertical split detecting device of a steel cord conveyor belt which comprises a transmitter that generates a high-frequency magnetic field by which induction currents are generated in a loop coil buried in the steel cord conveyor belt, a receiver that detects the induction currents generated in the loop coil and a mechanism that determines presence and absence of vertical split of the steel cord conveyor belt on the basis of signals from the receiver, where frequencies of the high-frequency magnetic field are equal to 680 kHz or more. Preferably an average distance of the loop coil from a cord placement surface in the steel cord conveyor belt is 1.5 mm or more.
