PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To abolish an inner differential case so as to locate a pinion gear outside as much as possible and to increase the diameter of the pinion gear by transmitting the rotation of an outer differential case to a pinion gear directly from a clutch. SOLUTION: A pinion gear 32 of a differential mechanism 30 is rotatably clamped between the output side member 42 of a clutch 40 provided on a rotation transmission path leading to a pinion shaft 31 from the outer differential case 20 and the inner wall of the outer differential case 20. The inner differential case is abolished from the rotation transmission path leading to the pinion gear 32 from the outer differential case 20. The pinion gear 32 is arranged in the direction separating from the rotation center of the differential mechanism 30. As a result, the pinion gear 32 and a side gear 33 are engaged at the larger diameter portion and the diameter of the pinion gear 32 is increased. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
