PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a huge magnetoresistance element which is scarcely affected by the direction of a magnetic field and detect precisely intensity of the magnetic field. SOLUTION: A GMR element 11 is constituted of from first to fifth rectilinear parts 11a-11e which have a liner shape. The rectilinear parts 11a, 11c, 11e are arranged stretching along a first direction, and the rectilinear parts 11b, 11d are arranged stretching along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. Sum of length of the rectilinear parts 11a, 11c, 11e is made identical to that of the rectilinear parts 11b, 11d. As a result, change of resistance which is caused by influence of direction of a magnetic field generated by the rectilinear parts 11a, 11c, 11e and change of resistance which is caused by influence of direction of a magnetic field generated by the rectilinear parts 11b, 11d are canceled with each other.
