PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a conventional thermocouple using an ordinary semiconductor materiel is difficult to obtain a Seeback coefficient of 1 mV/K or more. SOLUTION: The thermocouple 8 contains a germanium silicon (GeSi) material in which an impurity of a high concentration is added in at least one of a pair of members 100 and 101. Thus, very high Seeback coefficient can be obtained even with a specific resistance at the ambient temperature of a value near that of the conventional thermocouple. An improvement in performance of sensitivity or an output signal can be realized. For example, the thermocouple preferably applied to a thermopile type infrared detecting element can be provided.
